Southern Style Egg Salad Recipe

There's something about a good old-fashioned egg salad sandwich that takes me back to summertime in the South. It's one of those simple lunches that never gets old.
My Southern Style Egg Salad Recipe uses hard-boiled eggs, Duke's mayonnaise, yellow mustard, salt, and black pepper. That's it! Nothing fancy, just a creamy, flavorful egg salad made with a handful of ingredients.
I like mine on regular white bread or sourdough, but it's also great served with crackers or on a bed of lettuce if you're watching your carbs.
If you're looking for an easy homemade sandwich filling, this is a great place to start.

Easy Southern Tuna Salad Recipe with Egg

Tuna salad is another classic sandwich spread that has been around for generations. It's inexpensive, easy to make, and perfect when you need something quick for lunch.
My Southern Tuna Salad Recipe with Egg combines canned tuna, hard-boiled egg, Duke's mayonnaise, yellow mustard, chopped celery, dill pickles, and a little Old Bay seasoning.
The celery adds some crunch, while the dill pickles and mustard give it a nice tangy flavor. I especially like the addition of Old Bay because it gives the tuna salad a little something extra.
Serve it between two slices of bread with some chips on the side, and you've got yourself a simple Southern lunch.

Smoked Gouda Pimento Cheese with Bacon

Now we're getting into one of my favorite Southern sandwich spreads: pimento cheese!
This particular Smoked Gouda Pimento Cheese with Bacon recipe came from my good friend Trey Cauthen, who I go to church with. Trey and I both love food, so naturally, we end up talking about recipes from time to time.
He shared this recipe with me after seeing a smoked Gouda pimento cheese I had tried, and I'm glad he did.
It combines sharp cheddar, smoked Gouda, cream cheese, Duke's mayonnaise, pimentos, and bacon. The smoked Gouda gives it a wonderful smoky flavor, while the bacon adds another layer of savory goodness.
What I like about this recipe is that it still tastes like traditional pimento cheese, just with a smoky twist.
It's great on toasted bread, crackers, or served as an appetizer for parties, holidays, and church gatherings.

Jalapeño Pimento Cheese Recipe

If you like traditional Southern pimento cheese but enjoy a little heat, this next recipe is for you.
My Jalapeño Pimento Cheese Recipe came about after experimenting with a couple of different family and friend recipes.
I took the cream cheese idea from Trey's smoked Gouda recipe, added pepper jack cheese inspired by my mother-in-law's pimento cheese, and then mixed in some pickled jalapeños and a little of their juice.
The result is a creamy, cheesy spread with just the right amount of heat and tang.
What I like most is that the jalapeños don't overpower everything else. You still get that classic pimento cheese flavor, just with a little kick.
This is another great homemade sandwich spread, but don't stop at sandwiches. It's also delicious with crackers or toasted bread.

Easy Sandwich Filling Ideas and Ways to Serve Them
One of the best things about these homemade sandwich spreads is that you don't have to eat them the same way every time.
Of course, you can't go wrong with a traditional sandwich on white bread, but there are plenty of other ways to enjoy them.
Here are a few of my favorites:
- Classic sandwiches: Serve egg salad, tuna salad, or pimento cheese between two slices of your favorite bread.
- Toasted bread: Smoked Gouda and jalapeño pimento cheese are especially good on toasted bread.
- Crackers: All four recipes can be served with crackers for a quick snack or appetizer.
- Lettuce wraps: Egg salad and tuna salad are great options if you want something without bread.
- Party trays: Serve a couple of these spreads together with crackers, bread, and fresh vegetables for your next gathering.

FAQ
Yes! Most homemade sandwich spreads can be prepared ahead of time and kept refrigerated until you're ready to serve them. In fact, some taste even better after the flavors have had time to come together.
Most homemade egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad recipes are best used within 3 to 4 days when stored properly in the refrigerator at 40°F or below. Pimento cheese storage times can vary depending on the ingredients and preparation.
Crackers, wraps, toasted baguette slices, fresh vegetables, and lettuce wraps are all great options. Pimento cheese is especially good as an appetizer spread.
