Canyons has the best view of any restaurant in the Boone area.
Our last stop on our trip to Boone, NC lead us to a unique place. We passed by this place last year and we simply ran out of time to stop. I promised myself I would stop the next time I was in the area. The main drawing point was the views I could see from the road. I had to get a closer look. This is Canyons Restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC.
“What caught my eye on the menu was the mention of a sign that use to stand out front that read “Chicken, Dumplings, and Bait.””
Located just near the entrance to The Blowing Rock, Canyons is hanging off the side of a cliff overlooking a deep gorge facing Grandfather mountain. According to the menu Canyons been many things over the years including many restaurants, a dollar store, a few roadside bars, and even played a part in the great moonshine runs back during prohibition. What caught my eye on the menu was the mention of a sign that use to stand out front that read “Chicken, Dumplings, and Bait. That says it all there.
“The parking lot was full with more cars trying to find a place to park.”
The menu at Canyons Restaurant is as diverse as the many businesses that have graced its walls. The menu ranges from Mexican or South Western dishes to breakfast. There is even a Duck Burger on the menu. The parking lot was full with more cars trying to find a place to park. The place was packed for Sunday Brunch, which appears to be a favorite time to come to the restaurant.
We enjoyed the views and the atmosphere. There was live music going although it was a little too loud at the time but would not keep me from coming back. We really enjoyed our visit here and cannot wait to visit again. Watch our video below for the full review.
