Raising Cane’s has officially opened in town, and folks around Rock Hill, SC have been lining up to try it. In this Raising Cane’s Rock Hill SC review, I’m breaking down the chicken tenders, Cane’s sauce, the sides, and whether this new spot really lives up to the hype in York County.
Is it just another fast food chicken place?
Or is it the best fast food chicken in Rock Hill, SC right now?
Here’s how my first visit went.

Raising Cane’s Rock Hill, SC Location Review
First off — the place was packed. That’s expected when something new opens in York County. Folks around here show up when there’s chicken involved.
Service was solid. Friendly. Organized. But let’s be honest — it’s new. Corporate is still around. The real test will be how it holds up in six months.
And as much as I enjoyed it, Chick-fil-A is still the gold standard when it comes to service, but time will tell about Raising Cane's service at this Rock Hill location.
Now let’s talk food.
The Coleslaw – Sweet, But Heavy on the Mayo
I always start with the sides.
The slaw had:
- Green cabbage
- Red cabbage
- Carrots
It was slightly sweet — which I liked — but for me, just a little too much mayo. Not bad. Just not my favorite slaw style. If you like creamy slaw, you’ll probably enjoy it more than I did.

The Crinkle-Cut Fries – Simple and Solid
These were classic crinkle fries with minimal seasoning. Just salt. Nothing fancy.
And sometimes simple is good.
They paired well with the sauce — which brings me to the real star.

Cane’s Sauce – The Secret Weapon
Let’s just go ahead and say it — Cane’s sauce makes the meal.
It looks like a mix of mayo and ketchup with garlic, black pepper, and some herbs mixed in. Slightly sweet, a little savory. When you dip that chicken in it? That’s where it shines.

Without the sauce, the chicken is good.
With the sauce, it’s great.
The Chicken – Tender, Juicy, and Reminded Me of Fatz Café or Shrimp Boat Chicken
Now this is where it got interesting for me.
The chicken had minimal seasoning on its own. But it was very tender and very juicy — probably the most tender fast food chicken I’ve had.

And I’m going to say something that might hit some of y’all right in the nostalgia:
It reminded me of the old calabash-style chicken at Fatz Café. And honestly, the tenders also reminded me a lot of the chicken tenders at Shrimp Boat in Rock Hill, SC — light breading, not overly seasoned, and really tender inside.

If you know, you know.
That light breading. That soft bite. That clean flavor. It’s not heavily spiced. It lets the chicken speak for itself.
Dipped in that Cane’s sauce? That’s the move.
The Texas Toast – Surprisingly Good
The Texas toast looked like that Italian bread loaf you can grab from the grocery store bakery.
But it was buttery, toasted just right, and honestly one of my favorite parts of the tray. I really enjoyed it.
Is Raising Cane’s the Best Fast Food Chicken in Rock Hill, SC?
Here’s my honest take as someone who writes Southern recipes and grew up on sweet tea, cat head biscuits, and Sunday lunches:
As far as chicken quality — tenderness and juiciness — this may be the best fast food chicken in Rock Hill right now.
Flavor-wise? It depends on what you like.
If you want bold seasoning in the breading, you may lean toward other spots, such as Zaxby's or Helen's Hot Chicken (which I love by the way).
If you want clean, tender chicken that shines when dipped in sauce — Cane’s does that very well.
Overall, my first experience at Raising Cane’s in Rock Hill, SC was great.
Will it stay that way once the newness wears off?
Time will tell.
