Notice: Since Covid hit, The Wheel In is only open for take out. We hope that one day they will open their dining room back up.
When I first started Southern Food Junkie, I had two things in mind. To share the food that I love and grew up eating, and to share my experiences of trying food that I never tried. I love finding roadside restaurants, especially the ones that locals go to. The Wheel-In Restaurant in Lancaster, SC is one of those restaurants that I have come to love. Click below to see the reasons why you should try this local gem of a restaurant as well.
Once inside, the quaint restaurant feels like you just walked into your best friends house.
The Wheel-In restaurant is located at 1751 Pageland Hwy, right across from the SC Highway Department. It is in a brick building with a paved parking lot.
The traffic is pretty busy at this location but do not let that deter you from stopping in. Once inside, the quaint restaurant feels like you just walked into your best friend’s house.
There are two main seating areas one behind the salad bar and a smaller one once you walk into the door. Walking in is just like coming in the front door of your friend’s house. You know, the friend that tells you to make yourself at home. Pick you a seat out and wait for the waiter/waitress.
There is really something for everyone.
The Wheel-In restaurant is a traditional short-order grill. They serve up burgers, hamburger steak, club sandwiches, hot dogs, corn dogs, and a variety of other dishes that include pork and chicken. There is really something for everyone.
They have been around in the area for a long time and I have never had a bad meal here. One of my favorite things about the Wheel-In is the salad bar. Not many restaurants in the area have that option and I think it sets them apart.
There are many things that I have tried off the menu here, some of my favorites include the Hamburger Steak, The club sandwich, and The Chilli Cheeseburger (you have to ask for this one). I get my cheeseburger with Lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup, and chili! I will go ahead and coin it the Southern Food Junkie Burger haha.
In addition to the above mention, they have a roasted pork sandwich, Philly cheese steak, and chicken dishes as well.
If you are ever in the area, stop in and give them a try. I am sure you will find something on the menu that you will like. Meanwhile, make sure you check out the video that is posted down below and drop us a comment if you have ever been here before. We love to read your comments. Thanks for all you do and remember, Let’s Get Food Junked!
