Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer (Soda)
Just like all things in life, moderation is key. Soda is the same way. I love to kick back and drink an ice-cold craft soda. I guess it is the same way that some people enjoy a beer and such. Soda is my vice.
Consequently, it is not something that I drink daily. I may enjoy one or two a week. One of my favorite types of soda is Root Beer.
A few years ago I came across a brand called Boylan and I fell in love with it. I even did a review on it last year. Speaking about this, I was shopping in Big Lots the other day and came across a type of soda I have never tried before Birch Beer.
I was immediately intrigued. Similarly, it is made by Boylan Bottling Company. With that being said, this is my take on Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer (soda).
What is Birch Beer?
Birch beer is made from the bark or sap of birch trees. Historically, they would boil the wood or bark to extract the oils from the tree. Today it is commonplace for them to use essential oils to make the soda.
The essential oils are usually made from the sap and it is then mixed with a simple syrup as a carrier. There are a few other flavors that make it up. I could not find a reason why it was colored red. From what I read it is normally clear. The manufacturers either use brown or red food coloring, or either leave it clear.
If you love Birch Beer, I am sure you will love this Root Beer that I reviewed, It is one of my favorites so far.
What Does Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer (soda) Taste Like?
I have read a few other reviews that talk about the complexity of the flavor of Birch Beer. When I tasted this Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer, the main flavor I tasted was Vanilla.
The vanilla in this soda was strong. It reminded me of a cream soda and root beer mixed. In my opinion, I think Root Beer is more complex than this certain soda.
The carbonation is about a medium, not too strong where it burns going all the way down similar to Sam’s cola, but just a slight burn. I think it hits the right amount. Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer does come off as being slightly overly sweet for me. With all that being said, I did enjoy this soda.
All in all, this was a very good soda. Boylan is an excellent company that uses great ingredients. I do not think this will replace the Boylan Rootbeer as my favorite soda, but this could be a close runner-up.
This got me thinking about how popular this soda was. Have you ever tried Boylan Creamy Red Birch Beer? If so I would love to hear from you in the comments below. If not, tell us what your favorite soda is! As always we want to thank you for stopping by.
